About Bill von Achen

Bill von Achen is a business strategist, thinking partner and trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and executives. He has led and facilitated peer groups for business leaders for more than two decades, and has studied and written extensively about the process of learning that takes place within groups. Bill is also a two-time recipient of grants under the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund’s Small Business Direct Access program, and has delivered his leadership development workshops to more than 500 new and experienced managers since 2009.  

Bill has over thirty years of management and leadership experience, honed from his work at privately held companies and at major corporations in a wide range of industries. Prior to founding his firm, Strategic Management Resources, in 1994, Bill served as Chief Operating Officer at Dash, Straus and Goodhue, Inc. (now Intertek Testing Services), an engineering consulting firm that was named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the nation’s 500 fastest growing companies three separate times during his tenure.

Bill has served on the boards of a number of companies and non-profit organizations, and has been an active member in several the leading industry associations for consulting professionals, including the Institute of Management Consultants, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the International Association of Facilitators.

Bill received his B.A. with High Honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from Rutgers University, and his M.B.A. with Honors from Boston University. He has also earned the designation of Certified Management Consultant (CMC) from the Institute of Management Consultants, and the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society for Human Resource Management.
